Supplementary data for article "Microtubules soften due to cross-sectional flattening"

Molecular dynamics simulation software Espresso (http://espressomd.org/) is used to run the tcl files. [Note: newer versions now support python instead of tcl.]

Simulation output files generated with 'MT_sim.tcl' (by passing the appropriate parameters) can be then passed through the Matlab script 'brazier.m', which finds the adjusted critical bending moment (adjusted by subtracting contributions from shear).

Values of the adjuested critical bending moment from 81 simulations with varying parameters are stored in an array named 'mb' found in the matlab data file 'brazier.mat' The data file also contains an array 'mt' of the
expected bending moments computed according to Eq. 6 from the text (using a numerical factor of unity).
